Pulkovo Airport Greets Six Millionth Passenger
OREANDA-NEWS. January 10, 2008. On 27 December 2007, the Pulkovo airport greeted its six millionth passenger, the press service of the airport reported. This was six year old Nikita Gladkih. He departed with his mother, Lydia Gladkih, from Saint-Petersburg to Berlin by airline Transaero flight UN-419. The family was going to Dresden for the New Year holidays.
The six millionth passenger was given valuable presents from the airport – iPod and a watch. Transaero airline presented a voucher for a free round-way flight for 2 pax from St. Petersburg to any direction from the airline’s route network. Presents were also given by the partners of the airport: chain of duty-free shops Lenrianta, Flowers of Holland trading company, Rostik Group Corporation. The event took place in newly opened T.G.I. Friday’s restaurant in Pulkovo 2 terminal.
For the first time the greeting of a “jubilee” passenger was held in Pulkovo airport in 2006. The airport and airline Rossiya congratulated 35-year old Vadim Stasovsky who was going on vacation with his family. It is good to continue this tradition already in 2007. Despite the fact that even according to the most optimistic forecasts, it was expected to handle not more than 5,8 million passengers.
Attainment of the record number – 6 million passengers in 2007 – became possible due to the open policy of the Pulkovo airport. Pulkovo airport established partnership with all leading airlines, including low-cost carriers. Partner airlines, with which the airport works on a constant basis open new routes and increase fight frequency. Thus in 2007 6 new companies: Hainan Airlines, Iberia, Montenegro Airlines, Sky Express, Tajik Air and AZAL started to operate flights from Pulkovo airport.
