OREANDA-NEWS. January 09, 2007. At meeting, the Board of Directors of MMC Norilsk Nickel (the “Company”) reviewed, among other issues, the creation of a Committee of Independent Directors within the Company’s Board of Directors, reported the press-centre of MMC Norilsk Nickel.

The Board of Directors made a decision to create the Committee, which is made up of three independent directors, to review possible transactions concerning the Company’s shares, which may potentially influence the Company’s and its shareholders’ interests.

The Committee was formed with the following three independent members of the Board of Directors:

– Mr Guy de Selliers;
– Mr Heinz Schimmelbusch;
– Mr Vladimir Dolgikh.

Mr Guy de Selliers was elected the Chairman of the Committee.

The creation of the Committee within the Company’s Board of Directors is in line with Regulations on the Board of Directors of MMC Norilsk Nickel and corresponds with best practices in corporate governance.
