Russia Establishes National Nuclear University
OREANDA-NEWS. December 25, 2007. During a press-conference in Sarov the head of Rosatom Serget Kiriyenko said that the mission of the university would be to train specialists for the nuclear industry.
The university will be established on the basis of Moscow Engineering Physics Institute and its branches, particularly, Sarov University, a center for training nuclear power engineers.
“I think that this project should involve all the structures specializing in nuclear energy,” Kiriyenko said.
“We have already set up a working group and instructed them to draft a plan of action for establishing the university and to submit it to Rosatom and the Education Ministry in the first quarter of 2008,” Kiriyenko said.
Training of highly-qualified specialists is one of the priorities of Russia’s nuclear industry and the key prerequisite for it to preserve its high competitiveness in the world.
