OREANDA-NEWS. December 21, 2007.  Overall volume of melted steel over 2007 in the open-hearth furnace of Guryevsk Metallurgical Plant reached the mark of 200,000 t on 10 December.  All the resources of the plant (206,507.2 t of steel were melted in 2006) were utilized to reach the cherished mark.

This year the result, so significant for the plant, was achieved 11 days earlier than in 2006.

According to Andrey Fyodorovich Kholin, director of the open-hearth shop, the essential factor to achieve good results was the professionalism of the workers of the shop. “A good steelmaker, a true master of his trade, must be trained for 5-6 years, says Kholin. In the last 5 years the staff of the open-hearth shop virtually does not change, people show good understanding and teamwork. That is why the 200,000 t of steel, melted earlier than it was last year, is a logical result of coordinated work of the staff”.
