OREANDA-NEWS. On December 18, 2007 following the results of ”Health and Safety-2007” all-Russia contest OJSC “Surgutneftegas” became a laureate in three nominations and received two gold medals, reported the press-centre of Surgutneftegas.

Launched in 2005, “Health and Safety” is an annual contest held on the initiative of ETALON, Interregional Association promoting labor safety, and supported by Ministry of Health and Social Development of RF, Association of Personnel Protective Equipment and Federal State Institution “All-Russia Labor Safety Center”. The contest pursues the aim to identify the most outstanding achievements in terms of labor safety, life and health maintenance of the personnel. It is also committed to encouraging both scientists and experts for the contribution made to development of labor safety science and technologies, as well as creation of practical solutions.

The participants of the contest were allowed to apply for not more than three nominations. As for Surgutneftegas, it was for the first time when the Company took part in such event having provided information on its structural divisions including Polytechnic Educational Center, Health Center “Kedrovy Log” and Surgut Sewing Factory. The Contest Committee introduced by the representatives of federal executive authorities, agencies of labor safety state control and supervision, and top experts from different R&D organizations, companies and corporations, acknowledged Surgutneftegas as a laureate in those nominations the Company had applied for.

Thus, OJSC “Surgutneftegas” became a golden prize winner and a laureate in three nominations. “Training in safe working practice” nomination was awarded for training programs developed and implemented for the structural division managers and specialists within “Labor safety” module with software-assisted system “Corporate computer-based training system – SNG Training”. The Company’s efforts to provide first-rate medical service ensuring health maintenance and rehabilitation of its personnel were marked by nomination “Health Protection and Rehabilitation of the Employees Working under Unfavorable Labor Conditions”. “Personal and Collective Protective Equipment” nomination was awarded to Surgutneftegas due to providing both better conditions for the personnel working in severe climatic region and higher industrial pollution protection of the oilmen special clothes.

“Considering our successful cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Social Development we became very enthusiastic about the contest which, basically, serves to develop state policy in terms of employees’ life and health maintenance and sustain it through and with the help of society”, said Nikolai Matveev, First Deputy Director General, OJSC “Surgutneftegas”.

“The Company’s projects introduced at the contest were not developed for this very purpose – it was a result of our everyday work. And the fact our innovative approaches to labor safety were highly commended and widely recognized, once again witnesses that Surgutneftegas follows the right direction. Therefore, people, their health and safety are the key priority for us.”

The awarding ceremony was held under XI International Specialized Exhibition “Labor safety” on December 05 in All-Russia Exhibition Center, Moscow. The Company was represented by Vyacheslav Nikiforov.
