Robert Kocharian Receives Vice President of World Bank
OREANDA-NEWS. On December 14, 2007 President Robert Kocharian received the Vice President of the World Bank for Europe and Central Asia region Shigeo Katsu, reported the Official website http://news.president.am.
Robert Kocharian said that to date the cooperation with the World Bank has been yielding excellent results, and Armenia is interested in continuing the cooperation.
Shigeo Katsu noted that in the recent years Armenia has been one the best performing partners of the World Bank. He also said that in the cooperation between the WB and Armenia for the coming years the critical projects would be related to the second and third tier reforms as well as institutional reformation.
President of Armenia said that parallel to the second tier reforms Armenia would be attaching great importance to the social and educational areas, reduction of uneven development of the capital and regions, and expansion of the area of intellectual services.
Two sides spoke also about the opportunities for Armenia to preserve her competitiveness in the future and noted that it would very much depend on the consistent and efficient implementation of the reforms.
