OREANDA-NEWS. December 14, 2007. The action “Present joy!” initiated by the students of Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia is in full swing. Over 400 schoolchildren write letters and draw cards to New Year and Christmas for children from the Russian Children's Clinical Hospital (Moscow) within two weeks from December, 6. The action is held at schools № 45, 51, 109 and PROMO-M (South-West District), reported the press-centre of Russian Post.

”The children need communication. Some of them can’t go even in the hospital corridor for many weeks, let alone outside walks,” noted Olga Khramova, Coordinator on work with the volunteers of the Fund “Present a Life”.

It’s important lesson of kindness, understanding and mercy for children. Perhaps, they learn to treat people around them other way.

“It will be a pleasure for children from the Russian Children's Clinical Hospital. Let it be a small pleasure, but still. It’s well known that positive emotions are the best means to control illness. Schoolchildren should understand that there are different situations in live. Now they are small, but it doesn’t mean they can’t help. In fact, it is not just the letter they send, but their feelings and support spirits,”commented Natalya Golovan, Deputy Director on Educational work at comprehensive school № 51.

The arrangers understand that such actions are not to be mass ones. They should be systematic and long-term first of all. It’s impossible to do a good deed today and not to do tomorrow as the project has been over.

FSUE Russian Post supported the students of People’s Friendship University of Russia and handed out envelopes on free basis for all the participants of the action. The Moscow Department of Education, Governmental Fund Solnechniy Krug, Children’s Charity Fund Anita, Fund “Present a Life” and some social and state enterprises were also interested in the project.

Students of People’s Friendship University of Russia started out to develop public movement “Live Letter”. It is out of politics and religions.

This movement aims at rebirthing tradition of writing “live” letters. Young generation is Internet generation that is more accustomed to typing, making words shorter and not wasting time. Аs for “Live Letter” it is a try to leave a part of yourself not in electronic mode where you are limited by font types and pages, but in real world where you can’t delete feelings by the same “delete” key.

Public movement “Live Letter” doesn’t call young generation for refusing Internet, as first of all it is impossible and, secondly, there is no need in it. We don’t consider Internet as a competitor. We’d rather see it as an ally. Nowadays young people spend so much time on line and web-network is the place where we can put a message across it.

The students worked out projects “Present joy!” and “Go to post” within the framework of the movement mentioned.
