Academy of Technological Sciences Holds General Meeting
OREANDA-NEWS. December 17, 2007. Moscow has hosted a General Meeting of the Academy of Technological Sciences of the Russian Federation.
A report by Alexander Ananenkov, First Vice-President of the Academy of Technological Sciences of the Russian Federation and Deputy Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee was read at the Meeting. The report underlined the major results of joint business activity of Gazprom and the Academy of Technological Sciences as well as defined new areas for domestic technologies development in the gas industry.
“The most important aspect is that Gazprom settled the import substitution issue by virtue of tight cooperation with military-industrial enterprises and of the Academy’s contribution. Currently, the sector is primarily equipped with domestic gas processing units, pipes, automatic management systems of technological processes and metering equipment,” as stated in the report.
Another important issue is that the annual congresses, which are organized by the Academy, achieved high international status and acquired the leading positions among the similar forums in Russia and abroad.
The report underlined that the prospects for further development of Gazprom and the entire gas industry in the first half of 21st century will be connected with development of three new gas production regions at the Yamal Peninsula and neighboring offshore areas, Arctic Shelf and Russia’s East.
From the technological viewpoint every direction has its specific features. Work on the Yamal Peninsula requires utilization of modern environmentally secure technologies for field development; new technological decisions at the offshore area; development of technologies for separation and utilization of strategically important natural gas components.
“Therefore it is crucially important to widely utilize and support domestic innovations in these directions,” as underlined in the report.
The report also pointed to the need of developing and implementing new technologies in the Company’s most important sectors including power generation, industrial coalmine methane production, associated gas utilization.
“I am sure that the Academy’s work will be carried out henceforth in the interests of steady development of the gas industry, in the aim of successful innovative base development,” as said in the report.
