Belarusian Steel Works Steps Up Steel Production by 5,3%
OREANDA-NEWS. December 13, 2007. In January-November 2007 Belarusian Steel Works /BMZ/ stepped up the steel production by 5,3% as against the same period of 2006 to 2 million 82,7 thousand tonnes, it was learnt by Anatoly Volkov, the chief of the economic planning analysis department of the company, reported the press-centre of Gomel Invest.
For the 11 months of 2007 BMZ produced 1,7 million tonnes of rolled metal, up by 9% on January-November 2006, 261,1 thousand tonnes of wire products (metal cord, bead, brass plated and other types of wire), up by 19,2%.
Within the period in review the company increased the commodity output by 8,1% compared to January-November 2006. On the whole, BMZ manufactured Br2 trillion 474 billion worth of products in comparable prices. The export soared by 33,9% to reach $1 billion 134 million.
The steel mill was founded in 1984. At present the national unitary enterprise Belarusian Steel Works is a major exporter shipping its make to over 50 countries across the globe. Merchandise export accounts for more than 85% of the company’s output. BMZ specialises in cast sections, rolled sections, profiled iron, reinforcing bars, metal cord and other kinds of wire. In July 2007 the company started producing seamless hot-rolled pipes.
