Port Vanino Increases Throughput Up to 1%
OREANDA-NEWS. December 12, 2007. In January-November 2007, Port Vanino OJSC increased transshipment by 1%, year-on-year, to 5.9 million tonnes of cargo, the port’s press center reports. In November the port handled 490,100 tonnes of cargo (94.3%). In the 11-month period, the company handled 2.902.8 million tonnes of export cargo (93.5% against the level of 2006) including 1.669.8 million tonnes of timber (95.7%), 528,900 tonnes of coal (114.9%), 497,000 tonnesof non-ferrous metal (81.8%) and 150,400 tonnes of ferrous metal (100.7%).
Trn of import cargo grew by 36.3%, year-on-year, to 996,800 tonnes of cargo including 957,200 tonnes of alumina (135.3%). In November, transshipment of import cargo grew by 15.4%, year-on-year.
Coastal trade cargo amounted to 336,000 tonnes (103.2% against 2006). The ferry service Vanino-Kholmsk transported 1.682.2 million tonnes of cargo (99.0%). In the reported period the port handled 1,576 vessels including 718 ferries and 65,700 wagons.
Port Vanino OJSC is the largest stevedoring company of Khabarovsk region. It provides handling and forwarding services. Cargo is delivered via Vanino to the north-eastern regions of Russia, Japan, South Korea, China, Australia, USA and other countries of APR
The length of the port’s berthing line is about 2.5 kilometers.
