Throughput of Archangelsk Port Down 0.8%
OREANDA-NEWS. December 12, 2007. In January-November, 2007, the port of Archangelsk handed 4.861.8 million tonnes of cargo (0.9%, year-on-year). In the reported period, the port’s stevedoring companies accepted 424,500 tonnes of cargo (+14.9%, year-on-year) including 259,800 tonnes of import cargo (+57.7%), 164,700 tonnes of coastal trade cargo (-19.5%). Transshipment of imported containerized cargo totaled 52,800 tonnes (+25.2%), other general cargo 207,020 tonnes (+68.9%, year-on-year). Transshipment of general cargo within the framework of incoming coastal trade cargo totaled 151,990 tonnes (-18.8%), oil products – 8,850 tonnes (-1.8%, year-on-year).
In the 11-month period of 2007, the port of Archangelsk dispatched 4.477.3 million tonnes of cargo (-2.1%) including 1.417.3 million tonnes of exported cargo (+11.8%), 3.019.9 million tonnes of coastal trade cargo (-7.4%). Transshipment of exported containerized cargo totaled 52,500 tonnes (+29.7%) including 521,400 tonnes of timber (-12.2%), 87,500 tonnes of cellulose (-28%), 13,300 tonnes of cardboard and paper (-40.9%), 163,000 tonnes of other general cargo (-58.7%, year-on-year). Transshipment of crude and oil products within the framework of outgoing coastal trade cargo amounted to 2.415.7 million tonnes (-13.5%), other general cargo 528,300 tonnes (+35.8%, year-on-year), 75,900 tonnes of containerized cargo (-4.7%).
The port of Archangelsk is the largest seaport in the Northern region of Russia. Seaport of Archangelsk accepts vessels with a draft of up to 9.2 meters, length of up to 175 meters, breadth of up to 30 meters. The port comprises 151 berths with a total length of 17,548 meters, including 31 berths of timber industry companies, 22 berths of sea trade port, 6 berths of the river port, 3 berths of Rosneft-Archangelsknefteproduct OJSC engaged in export of oil and oil products, 2 berths of the fishing port and 87 minor berths of other companies. Archangelsk port is crossed by cargo transit lines from Europe to the states of the Far, Middle and Near East.
