Ukraine and Hungary Sign Agreement on Transborder Movement
OREANDA-NEWS. December 11, 2007. An agreement on small transborder movement between Ukraine and Hungary will be enacted in 30 days after the VR ratifies it, Hungarian Ambassador to Ukraine Andras Barson said, reported the Official website http://www.kmu.gov.ua.
He noted that Hungary's government ratified the agreement last week and now its turn of the VR. Andras Barson stressed that identity papers for Ukrainians, living close to border, encircling 50 km, will cost 20 EUR and will be provided for 5 years in consular departments of Uzhhorod and Berehove. The ambassador stressed that the id will hardly replace the Schengen visa and will allow to stay in Hungary within 50 km away from the Ukrainian -Hungarian border.
Andras Barson stressed that entering the Schengen zone symbolizes freedom and democracy. We won't offer borders, lines and humiliating customs procedures. We also expect Ukraine to join the Schengen zone shrtly. In this context he stressed that Ukraine needs no solicitors. Ukraine should show actual results, and it won't be ignored. In case it will face handicaps, we are always willing to help, he said.
