Ukrtransgaz Promises to Restore Pipeline by December 23
OREANDA-NEWS. December 10, 2007. Ukrtransgaz through its Naftogaz of Ukraine subsidiary promised to restore Urengoi-Pomary-Uzhgorod pipeline by December 23, 2007, company's press office reported. According to Ukrtransgaz's data, the accident didn't cause any interruptions in gas deliveries to Europe. "There were no critics from our European partners," Naftogaz of Ukraine said.
A special commission was established to tell the causes of the accident.
As it was reported earlier, on December 6, 2007 at 20.12 Moscow time the stretch of the Urengoi-Pomary-Uzhgorod pipeline was depressurized. The accident happened close to Illintsy pumping station in Vinnitsa region of Ukraine. Gas deliveries through the broken pipe were suspended. The fire at the place was put out, specialists started repair works. Nobody was hurt. The cause of the accident is still unknown. Households in the 22 settlements lived without gas for almost 3 days.
