OREANDA-NEWS. December 03, 2007. The visit was dedicated to the second anniversary of the start-up of the unique waste paper recycling plant supplied by the company “Kadant Lamort”, reported the press-centre of Kamennogorsk Offset Paper Mill.

The unique waste paper recycling plant was unveiled on the 16-th of November, 2005 in the presence of the Administration of the Leningrad region, the representatives of the President of Russia in the Northwest Federal District, the Northwest bank of Savings Bank of the Russian Federation, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Leningrad region, the Administration of Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resource Usage (Rosprirodnadzor) in the Northwest Federal District, the Nonprofit Partnership “Confederation of the Northwest Timbermen”, the Russian Corporation “Bumprom”, the representatives of the Canadian Consulate in St. Petersburg, and the representatives of “Kadant Lamort”, and the Administration of the Vyborgsky district of the Leningrad region and of the city of Kamennogorsk.

There are no more analogues of such equipment in Russia at present. KOPM is the first mill on the territory of the former USSR that operates by the best and complete cycle: waste paper processing – production of paper – production of paper-stationary goods. The new line makes it possible to produce paper of European quality from the recycled white waste paper, old books, magazines and coated paper, and from office paper wastes with color and white-black prints as well. Formerly those wastes were mostly removed to disposal sites and incineration plants for utilization. The new line will make it possible to save 1600 trees daily.

Realization of investment projects of such a major scale improves the economical structure of the Northwest Federal district where the pulp-and-paper industry is of great importance. The start-up of the new line is an important step in decreasing the adverse load on the environment and enhancing the ecological safety.

On completion of the excursion the press-conference took place, in which the distinguished guests participated -- the Member of Board of Directors of “Kadant Lamort”, the Vice President of Association “Manufactures of Machinery and Equipment for Paper and Board Industries” Mr. Lamort de Gail, the Project-Manager of French Agency for international business development Ms. Florence Zuber, and the Secretary-General of Association “Manufactures of Machinery and Equipment for Paper and Board Industries” Mr. Paul Carpentier.

Mr. Bruno Lamort de Gail said to the mass media representatives: “I am very pleased with cooperation with North-West Timber Company. The project was risky for Russia – you are not used to separate the wastes. Nevertheless the heads of the company have ventured and succeeded. The mill recycles successfully the waste paper not only from St. Petersburg but from the nearest regions as well, and thus protects the environment”.

The General Director of KOPM Anatoly Ilyin mentioned the great role of Ministry of Economic Affairs, Finance and Industry of France in the realization of the project.
