OREANDA-NEWS. December 06, 2007. December the 5th was announced the Day of Mourning in Verkhnaya Salda, Sverdlovsk Region for the employees of VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation killed in the industrial accident, reported the press-centre of VSMPO-AVISMA.

The Company’s management offers its sincere condolences to all the people related to this disaster. The families of the victims will receive corresponding money compensation.

As already informed, the accident happened on December 2, 2007 in Shop 21 of VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation - the pressure vessel on 6000 ton press was destroyed, which caused explosion.

Starting from December the 4th twenty-four-hour activities are taken in Shop 21 aimed at warmth-keeping in the production premises and restoration of the systems that require repair after exposure to low temperatures. Contracting agencies were also involved in this work. All activities related to the accident management are coordinated and controlled by the emergency response headquarters consisting of the managers of the Company’s divisions. The Company plans to start full-scale refurbishment work inside the production premises when the investigation commission completes its research.

The accident was caused by the circumstances of insuperable force. At present the Company’s management takes every possible effort to recover from the consequences of the accident as soon as possible and to reduce production cycle losses.
