Russia to Export Radioactive Waste Treatment Technologies
OREANDA-NEWS. December 5, 2007.Russia is ready to supply radioactive waste treatment technologies to all countries developing nuclear power engineering, the head of Rosatom Sergey Kiriyenko said today while opening Atomeco 2007 fair.
He said that Russia has long had such technologies and have lots of them but nobody has wanted them so far. Today, the situation has changed and there is growing demand for them.
“Here I see lots of technologies and we have to decide which of them meet the world standards and which of them will be used in the near future.”
“We will use these technologies in our own nuclear industry but we are open for cooperation as we believe that nuclear energy production is an open world market,” Kiriyenko said. He pointed out that now that NPP construction is actively developing worldwide radioactive waste treatment technologies will be in high demand and will become one of the key sources of profit. “Besides, by developing such technologies we will prove that we are able to solve the problem of disposal of radioactive waste,” Kiriyenko said.
