KAMAZ Inc. Presents Gas-Powered City Bus
OREANDA-NEWS. December 5, 2007. The fourth final meeting of the inter-departmental commission on the formal acceptance of the city bus NEFAZ-5299-20-21 took place on 29 November in the R&D Center of KAMAZ Inc. The decision of the commission became the reason for certification and serial production startup of the bus.
The bus is equipped with the KAMAZ-820.53-260 natural gas engine of 260 horsepower and the Voith-D253.E automatic hydromechanical transmission. The use of gas fuel loses environmental, noise and efficiency problems, and the Voith transmission is developed specially for city buses and ensures riding comfort and safety for standing passengers, decreases the engine and drivetrain components load. NEFAZ-5299-20-21 has 25 seats and accommodates 109 people.
This is the second model of NEFAZ natural gas-powered buses in the line of the company. The first model of the suburban bus was launched in 2005.
KAMAZ Inc. took the lead in “gasification” of vehicles. The company is ready to equip its production with gas engines which satisfy Euro-4 environmental requirements. The specialized service center of maintenance and repair of vehicles with gas engines opened on the production areas of the official dealer of KAMAZ Inc. – RariTEK Ltd. – in Naberezhnye Chelny in September of 2007.
