High Level of Postal Security to Provide Effective Work of Post
OREANDA-NEWS. November 28, 2007. High level of postal communications demands high level of postal security. It became the main object of International Seminar on Postal Security for the specialists of Administrations of Regional Commonwealth in the field of Communications (RCC). The event was held in Moscow, reported the press-centre of Russian Post.
The representatives of postal services of RCC member-countries held the meeting to exchange experience on the most important questions of mails security, embargo on delivery of prohibited goods, explosive substances and drugs, information security, property damage prevention and postal profits.
M. Romanchuk, FSUE Russian Post Deputy General Director has noted the necessity of postal employees’ personal security. Currently, Russian Post worked out efficient event system on prevention of assaults on postmen. It is on run and we are eager to share the experience with our colleagues, he noted. A. Karasev, Head of Directory of Security, FSUE Russian Post in his turn spoke of the questions of post and its customers’ property security. He mentioned this theme as offenders are often attracted by considerable sum of money and material values sent by post.
Postal security within the whole RCC sphere demands coordinated work of postal operators’ security services of its member-countries. Headed by Russia, Postal Security Action Group of RCC is to establish efficient dialogue at cooperating terms. This Group works out methodical recommendations, arranges seminars and meetings. Postal administrations of RCC member-countries secure international mails of criminal offences. Upgrading methods of postal income security is one of the most urgent and demanded working trends of the Group.
R.S. Mascanic, Specialist of International Bureau of Universal Postal Union (UPU) on Postal Security emphasized the importance of regular reconsideration and actualization of goals of postal operators’ security services. Currently, post doesn’t limit its functions on delivery of letters, parcels and packets. Postal operators constantly enlarge the number of services. This explains new risks as information security of financial operations that demands careful analysis and control. They are reflected in recommendations on postal security worked out by UPU for postal administrations of member-countries.
