Metrowagonmash Sends 16 Subway Cars to Warsaw Metro
OREANDA-NEWS. December 3, 2007. Metrowagonmash (MWM) sent a final batch of four intermediate cars designated 81-714.3 to the Warsaw metro (Poland) on November 23, 2007. The plant has send 16 cars within the last four months, the Transmashholding press service reported.
The shipments have been performed under a contract for manufacture and delivery of 16 metro cars concluded in October 2006.
The cars will be used to complement the Polish capital metro trains to six units each (instead of two head plus two intermediate version used now).
It is noteworthy that the plant and the Warsaw metro began cooperation in 1989 and around 40 MWM metro cars are now in service there.
Technical features of 81-714.3 metro cars:
The 81-714.3 is an intermediate motor car without a driver’s cab. The series cars are designed for multiple-unit operation and can be used in MUs made of up to eight cars.
The car body is made of low-carbon steel and has an all-welded support frame. The outer coat is made of riffled steel plates for better rigidness. The car body has improved heat and sound insulation.
The car bogies are two-axial with frame suspension of electric tractive motors and pivotal suspension of reduction gears. The all-welded H-shaped frame has a two-stage spring suspension. The first-stage suspension is made of spiral coiled springs’ sets. The second-stage swing suspension is also made of spiral coiled springs. The second-stage suspension is fitted with hydraulic shock absorbers for vertical and lateral oscillation.
