SCM Corporate Foundation, Trade Network Amstor Help Stop TB in Ukraine
OREANDA-NEWS. November 30, 2007. Early this week, 2007 SCM Corporate Foundation of Ukraine and National Trading Network Amstor launched their Joint Campaign within the framework of the national project "Stop TB in Ukraine", the Foundation for Development of Ukraine announced.
The campaign involves 8 cities in five Oblasts of Ukraine: Donetsk, Makeyevka, Gorlovka, Mariupol, Zaporozhye, Melitopol, Severodonetsk, Nikolayev and Kremenchug and will last for one month up to December 23, 2007. At the cash desks of "Amstor" supermarkets of all the mentioned cities there are installed money boxes for donations. The money collected will be used to improve social conditions of the patients in anti-TB institutions of each Oblast.
Each visitor of the "Amstor" network will be given a possibility to make a voluntary contribution to combat TB and thus to show his/her involvement in dealing with the problem.
Today, Anatoliy Zabolotny (the Director of the Foundation for Development of Ukraine), Vlasta Shovkovskaya (External Communications Director of the Foundation) and Elena Grichishkina (Deputy Director of Amstor House Ltd.) as well as other well-known public figures were present at the opening ceremony of the Campaign in "Amstor" supermarket located at 3-D Stadionnaya Street, Donetsk.
Anatoliy Zabolotny drew attention to the following key points: "This campaign is important for us due to a number of reasons. First of all, the problem of TB epidemic has started attracting attention of non-indifferent organizations such as our partner National Trading Network "Amstor". It’s really great that both socially responsible business and ordinary people are uniting their efforts to solve the problem. The community gets better understanding of the problem the country has faced with and participation of ordinary population in solving the problem is really important. Our campaign gives a chance to everyone to participate in combating TB: if all who care donate 1 or 2 hryvnias this will provide real help to people infected with TB. And the least but not the last thing is that the collected money funds will be used to support those who really need help".
Elena Grichishkina noted that TB has become a real threat for the community. "Statistics proves that every hour TB takes somebody’s life. Realizing the seriousness of the situation "Amstor", as a socially responsible company, has decided to directly participate in solving the problem. Daily more than 10 thousand people visit each "Amstor". We are sure that there are lots of kind people with a big heart among our customers. We believe that they will be merciful and will help those who really need help.
Within this month, each visitor not indifferent to the problem will get a Christmas toy in the form of a camomile, which is a symbol of TB combat and thus will be able to put the decoration on the Christmas tree in the supermarket hall.
The visitors can get more detailed information regarding the TB problem from information leaflets, which are placed on the desk next to the Christmas tree.
