Belarus Develops National Programme of Pharmaceutical Security
OREANDA-NEWS. November 28, 2007. Belarus has been developing the national programme of pharmaceutical security, Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Alexander Kosinets reported at a joint session of the two houses of the Belarusian parliament, reported the Official website www.government.by.
In his words, the programme is estimated at more than $200 million. In line with the programme, Belbiopharm concern is set to produce 50% of the country’s demand for medicines. Now the Belbiopharm share of the domestic market is 19%.
The Vice Premier noted that Belbiopharm incorporated 19 manufactures. In January-October this year the concern met all the annual targets. For the first time the concern has reported the $407,000 surplus. The number of loss making plants fell from ten to two.
“The main objective today is to upgrade and construct new plants,” Alexander Kosinets said.
He also added that in accordance with the presidential initiative voiced on the first congress of scientists Belarus started developing biotechnologies.
