Ukrainian Banking System Was Not Much Influenced by Global Crisis
OREANDA-NEWS. November 27, 2007. Sergiy Naumov, Deputy Chairman of the Board, JSCIB “UkrSibbank”:
According to the leading international experts and rating agencies, Ukrainian banking system was less influenced by negative consequences of the global financial crisis than any other CIS countries. Contradictory as it may seem, our system took advantage of its insufficient integration into the world financial markets, and of the absence of the mechanisms typical for open markets; NBU regulations and a lot of large-scale foreign investments into the Ukrainian banks, reported the press-centre of UkrSibbank.
Being part of BNP Paribas, “UkrSibbank” continues to finance Ukrainian companies. During the last quarter, the bank expanded its portfolio by 20%.
