French Inspect Novosibirsk Chemical Plant
OREANDA-NEWS. November 28, 2007. A French inspection group consisting of representatives of the Ministry of Defense and Commissariat for Atomic Energy inspected the lithium-containing materials storage at JSC Novosibirsk Chemical Concentrates Plant, Tvel's press service reported. The inspection was carried out in frames of the agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of French Republic concerning cooperation in the field of safe elimination of nuclear weapons in Russia and peaceful use of released nuclear weapons materials (the Aide au demantelement Program) signed by Russia and France in 1992. The agreement provided the construction of a storage facility for lithium-containing materials at JSC NCCP. The building was built on a turn-key basis with French funds (with a partial funding by the plant) and transferred to the Russian Federation December 16, 1997; inspections have been carried out there since then. This inspection has resulted in an official report, no deficiencies in the storage conditions have been found out. The report says the building is in perfect conditions and the inspection has confirmed high competence of the NCCP personnel who work in the storage facility.
