The official opening of Kars-Akhalkalaki-Tbilisi-Baku railway was held on November 22 in Marabda (Samtskhe-Javakheti region of Georgia), attended by presidents of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey, the press service of Tbilisi diesel-locomotive-building works reported. Georgian president Mikhail Saakashvili declared that against the background of still-blocked railway bypassing Abkhazia and non-operating other transport routes in Russia's direction, Kars-Akhalkalaki-Tbilisi-Baku railway has a key importance.
