Zlatoust Metallurgists Develop New Shear Brand
OREANDA-NEWS. November 26, 2007. JSC Zlatoust Metallurgical Plant (ZMP, Chelyabinsk region), part of the Group of companies ESTAR, developed a new shear steel brand with high durability and good workability, the deputy head of thermal calibration workshop of ZMP, Oleg Tulin, informed the agency RIA Novosti at the presentation of new plant production on Wednesday during the exhibition “Metal-Expo – 2007” in Moscow.
“A knife made of this steel can easily cut a nail and it won’t get blunted afterwards. Moreover, it doesn’t require additional sharpening because it’s self-sharpened in the process of cutting”, noted the agency’s interlocutor.
The ZMP specialists have been developing the new shear steel for about a year. “Currently we want to attract the core Russian enterprises interested in producing knives from our steel”, said Tulin. He added that the factory price of steel will be about 120,000 rubles per ton.
The plant produces steel and cold steel arms since 1815. The enterprise is part of the Managing company ESTAR. ESTAR also comprises Novosibirsk Metallurgical Plant named after Kuzmin, JSC Nytva (Perm region), Volgograd Small Diameter Pipe Plant (Volgograd), Engels Pipe Plant (Engels, Saratov region), "Steel Profile” Plant (Novosibirsk), Trading House “ESTAR”, Scrap-processing enterprise JSC Lomprom and the Rostov Electrometallurgical Plant currently under construction (Shakhty, Rostov region).
