Tax Inspectorate Imposes Tax Charges upon Southern Telecommunications
OREANDA-NEWS. November 26, 2007. Southern Telecommunications Company (RTS: KUBN, KUBNP; MICEX: UTEL, UTELP; ADR OTC: STJSY, KUE FRA)], the principal fixed-line telecommunications provider for Russia's Southern Federal District, announced a ruling handed down by Inter-regional Tax Inspection № 7 of the Federal Tax Service in charge of large taxpayers with regard to the Company, based on the results of a field scheduled tax audit for 2004-2006.
Southern Telecommunications Company PJSC received from the Tax Inspectorate Decision № 22 of November 19, 2007 on imposing tax charges against the taxpayer. The tax claims totaled 294.2 million rubles, with 216.9 million rubles falling to taxes and 77.2 million rubles to fines and penalties.
The main amount of the claims relates to interconnect and traffic transit settlements. "The Company does not agree with the findings made by Inter-regional Tax Inspection № 7 of the Federal Tax Service in charge of large taxpayers with regard to all charges additionally levied and will take actions to protect its rights in the court. "UTK" PJSC is an honest and law-abiding taxpayer and will try to show the groundlessness of the claim in the Arbitration Court," the press release says.
