Representatives of NGO Visits Angarsk Electrolytic Chemical Combine
OREANDA-NEWS. On November 20, 2007 a group of representatives of “Sovremennitsy” women’s public association of Angarsk visited Angarsk Electrolytic Chemical Combine (AECC), reported the press-centre of AECC.
The association has almost 400 members – women representing different professional and social groups and actively involved in the life of their town. Their “Step Towards Each Other” project is aimed at informing the residents of Angarsk and the nearby region about the safety of the local nuclear companies.
The guests visited several departments of the plant and the Angarsk Information Center of the Federal Agency for Nuclear Energy (Rosatom), met with the director general of AECC V.Shopen. The latter told them about the plant, its performance, management system and ecological policy.
The guests saw with their own eyes that AECC provided detailed, objective and accessible about its activities. The executive director of the association Olga Troitskaya said that their association was ready to serve as a link between AECC and the population of Angarsk and to provide people with objective information about the work of the plant.
AECC’s active cooperation with NGOs in the framework of its openness and transparency policy proves that the plant is ready for open and constructive dialogue with the public.
