Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port to Acquire Assets in Ukraine
OREANDA-NEWS. November 20, 2007. Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port OJSC plans to acquire assets in Ukraine. Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port is holding negotiations on purchase of stevedoring companies operating in the largest ports of Ukraine: Odessa, Yuzhny and Iljichevsk. Market players say this interest reflects the deficit of Russian ports’ capacities and think that it would be more profitable for the company to sign a contract on cooperation with the above ports. “The negotiations have been being held for two years already,” Aleksandr Rybyn, head of the company’s Department of Corporate Finance, said according to the source.
Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port (NCSP OJSC) is the largest stevedoring company operating at the port of Novorossiysk. In 2006, the company’s throughput totaled 74.899 million tonnes. Beneficiaries of the company’s control stake are Aleksandr Ponomorenko and Aleksandr Skorobogatko. The trusts acting in their interests control Kadina Limited (holding 52.9% of NCSP shares). The state owns 20% of the company’s shares. Russian Railways OJSC has 16% of voting right shares.
