OREANDA-NEWS. November 20, 2007. The Transport and Communications Ministry initiated creation of a helicopter unit under the state specialized enterprise "MARS" ("Marine Rescue Service"), reported the Official website www.kmu.gov.ua.

This was announced by Transport and Communications Minister Mykola Rudkovskyi.

According to him, such a unit would be more flexible and efficient in rescue operations at sea.

It is envisaged that the unit should be deployed in Sevastopol, Crimea, and funds for procurement of the helicopters should be earmarked in the budget-2008. The Ministry has forwarded its proposals to the Cabinet of Ministers.
