"Polar Lights 2008" Nuclear Conference to Be Held in St. Petersburg
OREANDA-NEWS. November 20, 2007. The 11th International Scientific-Innovative Conference of Students, Post-Graduates and Young Specialists "Polar Lights 2008" is to be held in St. Petersburg Jan. 28 - Feb. 1, 2008. The slogan of the conference is "Nuclear Future: Technologies, Safety and Ecology".
According to the Rosatom information department, the conference is a kind of review of nuclear energy-related research projects by students, post-graduates and young specialists of Russia and foreign countries. The organizer of the conference is the Federal Agency for Nuclear Energy, the Public Council of Rosatom, the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute, and the State Regional Education Center of Rosatom. The agenda of the conference includes: plenary session, thematic sections, an intellectual contest, a mass media contest, master classes.
The topics at the sections are as follows:
- economics of nuclear power engineering and resources;
- safety of reactors and nuclear fuel cycle systems;
- ecological aspects of the use of nuclear energy;
- prospects of the use of nuclear technologies;
- youth and employment problems in the nuclear power industry;
- nuclear nonproliferation activities, etc.
