OREANDA-NEWS. November 19, 2007. SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev received the delegation led by Arno Break, vise president for Continental Europe and Central Asia of French Company Total. Having thanked SOCAR President for his time, A. Break mentioned that he visited Baku on occasion of French oil men’s professional holiday.

According to A. Break, every year Total is celebrating this holiday not only in France, but also in various countries where the company is implementing projects. The guest spoke about his impressions about the beauty of Baku, and stressed the oil factor in socioeconomic development of Azerbaijan. Having welcomed the guests, SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev congratulated his colleagues from Total Company. He informed the guests that the professional holiday of oil workers in Azerbaijan, ancient land of oil goes back to the day of signing the Contract of the Century, and it is annually celebrated on September 20. R. Abdullayev also informed the guests about the achievements in oil industry, and noted that oil revenue is one of the main resources for the socioeconomic development of Azerbaijan.

SOCAR President drew attention to the works done on a large scale to cultivate oil-fields which was polluted as a result of oil production for more than 150 years. He spoke about planting of greenery by SOCAR employees in Bibiheybat bay, one of the first oil fields on November 17. There were also detailed discussions on implementation process of Shahdaniz project with the active participation of Total Company, oil and gas transportation, as well as the future perspectives of cooperation during the meeting. The vise president of Total said that would be pleased to see SOCAR President at the headquarters of the Company in France.
