Russian Railways Presents New International Passenger Routes
OREANDA-NEWS. November 19, 2007. “On December 11 2007, the Number 13/14 through coach will leave Moscow from the Russian capital’s Belorussian Station on its maiden trip to Paris,” said Company Vice-President Mikhail Akulov today during the presentation.
In Berlin, the coach will be re-hitched to the Deutsche Bahn Number 242/243 night train from Berlin to Paris.
The coach will run twice a week during the winter season and three times a week in summer (from May 24 to October 2).
The coach will stop in Berlin for about 12 hours en route to Paris, and for about 7 hours in the opposite direction. Total travel time between Moscow and Paris, including the stop in Berlin, will be 51 hours 14 minutes, and 45 hours 49 minutes in the opposite direction.
A single second-class adult ticket costs 333 EUR, a first-class ticket 497 EUR, and a single ticket with just one passenger in the sleeping compartment 545 EUR.
A single adult ticket for a passenger travelling in a group in second class costs 241.5 EUR, in first class 360.1 EUR and alone in a compartment 408.1 EUR.
Children travel in second class for 185.5 EUR, in first class for 275.5 EUR and single for 323.5 EUR.
When travelling in a group, children’s fares are 139.7 EUR in second class, 207.1 EUR in first class and 255.1 EUR in a single compartment.
Passengers can take animals by paying the “East - West” tariff, i.e., if owner and any accompanying persons have obtained the appropriate travel documents for all places in the sleeping compartment.
In December 2007, through passenger coaches will also begin operating between Moscow and several Europe cities. Passenger services will begin between Moscow and Amsterdam and between Moscow and Munich on December 7, 2007, and between Moscow and Basle on December 22.
Passengers on all new international routes will travel in coaches with dimensions similar to those of the Ritz class and capable of 200 kmph. The coaches can be converted into two and three-berth compartment for passengers wishing to travel in first or second class.
