Throughput of Archangelsk Seaport Up 0.9%
OREANDA-NEWS. November 16, 2007. In January-October 2007, the port of Archangelsk handled 4.489.54 million tonnes of cargo (+0.9%, year-on-year). In the reported period the port’s stevedoring companies accepted 383,180 tonnes of cargo (+17.8%, year-on-year) including 239,990 tonnes of import cargo (+55.9%), 143,190 tonnes of coastal trade cargo (-16.5%). Import, in its turn, consisted of 47,004 tonnes of containerized cargo (+20.5%) and 192,990 tonnes of other general cargo (+70.4%, year-on-year). Incoming coastal trade cargo included 127,640 tonnes of general cargo (-20.9%), 8,840 tonnes of oil products (3.3-fold increase, year-on-year). Container throughput totaled 6,699 tonnes (-8.3%).
Besides, in January-October 2007, the port dispatched 4.106.36 million tonnes of cargo (-0.4%) including 1.321.5 million tonnes of export cargo (+14.2%), 2.784.82 million tonnes of coastal trade cargo (-6.2%). Export, in its turn, included 50,485 tonnes of containerized cargo (+36.7%). Transshipment of timber amounted to 484,930 tonnes (-8.4%), cellulose - 77,998 tonnes (-26.9%), cardboard and paper – 13,280 tonnes (-35.8%), other general cargo - 135,060 tonnes(-63.4%, year-on-year). Dispatched coastal trade cargo included 2.209.05 million tonnes of oil and oil products (-12.3%), 501,730 tonnes of other general cargo (+34.2%, year-on-year). Container throughput totaled 74,055 tonnes (-0.2%).
The port of Archangelsk is the largest seaport in the Northern region of Russia. Seaport of Archangelsk accepts vessels with a draft of up to 9.2 meters, length of up to 175 meters, breadth of up to 30 meters. The port comprises 151 berths with a total length of 17,548 meters, including 31 berths of timber industry companies, 22 berths of sea trade port, 6 berths of the river port, 3 berths of Rosneft-Archangelsknefteproduct OJSC engaged in export of oil and oil products, 2 berths of the fishing port and 87 minor berths of other companies. Archangelsk port is crossed by cargo transit lines from Europe to the states of the Far, Middle and Near East.
