OREANDA-NEWS. On November 14, 2007 representatives of the general contractor of the project, Nizhniy Novgorod Atomenergoproekt, sub-contractor organizations and Kalinin NPP discussed the results of Oct 2007 and plans for Nov-Dec 2007 and Jan-mar 2008, reported the press-centre of Kalinin NPP.

While opening the meeting the director general of Atomenergoproekt Valery Limarenko said that the Nov 12 ceremony of putting the first spade of concrete in the floor panel of unit 4 was a historic event marking transition from preparation and restoration to active construction.

The director for the construction of Udomlia office of Atomenergoproekt Vyacheslav Makhonin said that in Oct 2007 the constructors carried out work worth 50mln RUR. In Nov 2007 they have to do twice as much work – worth 174mln RUR. Particularly, they are to build the reactor compartment, the sites for cooling towers and cold waste storage facilities.

The head of the capital construction department of Rosenergoatom Concern Nikolay Pavlenko said that the Kalinin NPP-4 project was entering the stage of active construction. “We have a lot of work to do: particularly, we have to specify our tasks, to increase our personnel and to launch large-scale construction in the reactor and turbine compartments.”
