Siemens, Rosatom to Cooperate in Nuclear Power Engineering
OREANDA-NEWS. On November 13, 2007, Siemens AG and the Federal Agency for Nuclear Energy (Rosatom) signed a memorandum of intention to cooperate in the development of the energy sector and nuclear power engineering, the press service of the Federal Agency for Nuclear Energy announced. The document was signed by the head of the Federal Agency for Nuclear Energy Sergey Kiriyenko and member of the Corporate Executive Committee of Siemens AG Rudi Lamprecht.
The memorandum says that the development of nuclear power engineering in Russia is opening up excellent opportunities for cooperation between Rosatom and Siemens. Rosatom is interested in creating favorable conditions for successfully implementing its program for large-scale NPP construction, particularly, by forming international consortiums with foreign producers for possible integration of their technologies into Russian projects and further reproduction of the technologies at Russian enterprises.
As one of the biggest European companies in the field of power machinery construction and automation, Siemens is considering ways of use of its technologies under Russian-design NPP construction projects.
The parties are going to develop their cooperation in the construction of nuclear power plants of Russian-design with the use of Siemens technologies; the reconstruction and modernization of existing nuclear power units; production of equipment for nuclear power industry, in particular, in the transfer of technologies.
The parties have agreed to organize specific consultations with the participation of specialists of Atomstroyexport CJSC, VNIIAES OJSC and Rosenergoatom Concern.
