STC to Raise Digitalization Rate of Its Sochi Telecom Network
OREANDA-NEWS. November 13, 2007. STC is looking to raise the digitalization rate of its Sochi network to 100% in 2008. The implementation of this project using NGN solutions will allow the company to strengthen its market position in the region.
The operator intends to invest Rub 250 mln in its Sochi telecom network next year, which will enable it to respond rapidly to corporate customer demand in a rapidly expanding region and to raise the quality of traditional telephony and increase the coverage zone of its broadband services.
Only this year STC obtained such large clients as Transservice, Bank Moscow Capital, Yuniastrum Bank, Impex Bank, the Sochi branch of FGUP VGTRK, the Moscow and Zarya spas, Coca-Cola HBS Eurasia and many others.
“Other such well known companies as Millenium Engineering, Ikea, SK Putevi and Gras have all opened representative offices in the city. They are all our clients. GRAS will build a whole city of top-end homes in Sochi with a population of over 10,000 people, which for us is tantamount to a district center. And STC experts begab negotiations with them even before the beginning of zero construction cycles”, commercial director of STC Arkady Samoilov comments.
Dealing on a personal basis with each active or potential corporate client, offering discounts, raising the quality of telecom services, advanced technical solutions and executing exclusive projects – these are the cornerstones of STC’s client-driven business policy.
At present, STC has total subscriber facilities in excess of 130,000 lines, with lines in service amounting to over 118,000 lines or 90.3% of the total figure. The operator’s network has a 74% digitalization rate. It has over 50 broadband Internet access points. STC expects to have 9,000 ports in service as of year-end 2007, which will make it possible to fully meet demand for broadband access service in the Sochi area.
The operator’s datacom network in the region was built using state-of-the-art equipment, which makes it possible both to increase throughout capacity and the number of access points. Only new technologies will enable STC to deliver high quality and a broad array of infocom solutions in the capital for the 2014 Winter Olympics.
