FAS Russia Participated in Promoting Competition Conference
OREANDA-NEWS. In the period October 30-31, 2007 the experts of the Federal Antimonopoly Service of the Russian Federation (FAS Russia) participated in the "Promoting Competition in Developed and Developing Countries" International Conference. The Conference was organized by the US Agency for International Development (USAID) conjointly with the State Commission for Protection of Economic Competition of the Republic of Armenia and took place in Yerevan, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.
The representatives of the competition authorities from Armenia, Italy, Romania and other European competition authorities, experts of the US Federal Trade Commission as well as officials of USAID and the Centre of Armenian-European Policy and Legal Assistance participated in the Conference.
At the Conference the Head of the Division for Banking Services Market of the Department for the Control over Financial Markets of the FAS Russia Ms. Olga Sergeeva made a presentation "Competition Aspects of the State Regulation in the Market of Banking Services in the Russian Federation". She reported on the peculiarities of the antimonopoly regulation in the market of banking services, the role of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation in competition policy implementation in this market and prospective directions of the antimonopoly authority' activity in this sphere.
The Conference participants discussed the issues of competition advocacy and consumer rights protection, interaction between competition authorities and regulators of different markets, exchanged experience on the antimonopoly control in telecommunication sphere as well as on the activity of the natural monopolies and credit organizations.
