OREANDA-NEWS. Belarus has been implementing a project on the production of LECA (Lightweight Expanded Clay Aggregate), reported the Official website www.government.by.

This is a new and effective construction material which manufacture has been launched at the Novolukoml Sintering Plant and Minskzhelezobeton plant, Minister of Architecture and Construction Alexander Seleznev told a session of the Presidium of the Council of Ministers.

He noted that the new construction material is characterized by high thermal conductivity. It is less costly in construction. The output will make up 150 thousand cubic meters of LECA blocks by the end of the year and 500 thousand cubic meters in 2008. The minister also informed that privately-owned companies have started manufacturing LECA blocks as well.
