Head of Rosaton Visits Mayak PA
OREANDA-NEWS. November 2, 2007. Mayak was established in 1948 and is one of the key companies of Russia’s nuclear power industry.
The press secretary of Rosatom Sergey Novikov says the parties discussed the plant’s three basic projects: reinforcement of the dam of Techa reservoir cascade, launch of furnace for vitrification of radioactive waste and creation of a system of hydrological monitoring, particularly, of the area near Lake Karachay (where the plant stores radioactive waste).
Kiriyenko and Representative of the President of Ural Federal District Pyotr Latyshev visited the construction of the plant’s sewage treatment works.
The head of the branch of Rosatomstroy for Mayak plants Vladimir Svateyev told the guests about the course of that 1bln RUR project. He said that the facilities are supposed to be ready by 2009 but in order to comply with the schedule the contractors need additional financing. Kiriyenko promised to consider the problem.
