OREANDA-NEWS. November 2, 2007.Lomprom /Shakhty, Rostov region, part of the Group of companies "ESTAR"/ began to mount the shearing machine of Metso Lindemann GmbH /Germany/, model EC 1240-10 for ? 5.4 mln.

Installation and commissioning of the shearing machine is to be finished in October-November of 2007. The annual processing volume will amount to approximately 700,000 t. The cost of the whole Lomprom site in Shakhty will be about ? 22 mln.

The size of room for the shearing machine is 10 m. Its efficiency is, depending on the structure of loaded scrap, from 30 to 60 t per hour. The unit is equipped with two shears. The main characteristic of such installations is bulk density. In this case it amounts to 0.7-0.8 t per cubic meter in compliance with the arc-furnace requirements at the Rostov Electrometallurgical Plant /REMP, part of the Group of companies "ESTAR"/.

The main purpose of the Lomprom site in Shakhty is supplying scrap for REMP. The planned consumption of REMP is about 850,000 t of scrap per year. Part of the metal waste from the enterprises of the ESTAR Group and the partner enterprises located in the neighbouring regions is to be supplied to REMP. About 20-30% of the whole bulk of scrap exported through the southern ports is expected to remain in the region thanks to the activity of Lomprom and REMP.

Lomprom was registered in 2004. The company’s task is to supply iron-and-steel scrap to the enterprises of the metallurgical holding Group of companies “ESTAR”. Currently 18 sites are operating in Russia.
