OREANDA-NEWS. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry is checking into information about accusations by the United States Securities and Exchange Commission against a Ukrainian citizen of illegal use of corporate confidential information in his stock exchange activities, reported the Official website www.kmu.gov.ua.

As the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry's press service reported, the relevant agency addressed the Ukrainian Embassy in the USA for information.

As foreign media reported, the SEC sued a Ukrainian national, alleging that he fraudulently obtained nonpublic information about IMS Health Inc's results and used it to trade options on the company's stock.

Oleksandr Dorozhko, who lives in Uzhgorod and is an independent engineering consultant in the energy industry, bought 630 IMS Health out-of-the-money and at-the-money put options on October 17. Hours later, after the market close, IMS announced lower third-quarter earnings that missed analysts' estimates. Shares of IMS Health, which provides market research to health care companies, fell 28 percent on October 18. Dorozhko sold all of his put options, making a profit of more than 280,000 USD the SEC said.

The SEC claimed he may have hacked into IMS Health's computer network to obtain information about the company's results.
