Severstal Constructs Filtration Plant Capable of Reducing Discharge
OREANDA-NEWS. On October 30, 2007 CherMK OAO Severstal’s environmental load program will include a new filtration plant which, combined with other efforts, will reduce iron and petrochemical discharge from outlet 10 into the Koshta river by 11 tons a year. Construction is expected to be completed in Q4 of 2008, reported the press-centre of Severstal.
The 2,000 m3/hr capacity filtration plant is intended for the after-treatment of bar-rolling shop and sheet-rolling shop №1 off-balance water discharged into CherMK OAO Severstal’s production and storm-water drainage systems.
The design envisages the construction of a 700 m2 industrial building to accommodate 8 aluminosilicate-media filters. The filters will be capable of after-treating off-balance waters and return them into the production cycle. The plant will be designed by the ZAO Design Institute’s “Leningradski Vodokanal-Proekt”.
