OREANDA-NEWS. Specialists from SibCOTES, which belongs to E4 Group, attended the annual International Symposium for Engineering Information Technologies, ISEIT-2007, held in London on October 9-10. AVEVA, UK, arranged the event. The company specializes in engineering IT and it prepares the state-of-the-art solutions for creating engineering data and their management.

This year about 150 representatives from design and engineering companies, which work in power engineering and other industries, from different countries of the world got together to share their experience in engineering and management systems.

The state-of-the-art solutions from AVEVA were presented at ISEIT-2007. The company’s innovations are based on the concept for the creation and management of technical information about an industrial project during its whole life cycle. Plant Design Management System (PDMS) is the most popular product made by AVEVA.

At the Symposium the specialists learned about such programs as VANTAGE Plant Design and AVEVA NETPortal (VNET). The first one is an advanced version of PDMS 3-D design system, and the second one belongs to the latest innovations in web-technologies. AVEVA NET Portal is an integrated “operating environment”, which allows the companies involved in one project to quickly access all the documents required. The program provides quicker information exchange and simplifies the process when technical and managerial decisions have to be agreed upon and approved. It saves resources of design engineers greatly, if some changes have to be made in the project documents already completed, and these changes relate to equipment configuration or technical specifications.

In Russia, the application of these technologies has just begun, whereas Western companies have been using them in their work for a long time. The experience proves that the application of the state-of-the-art solutions for the development of engineering products allows the companies to achieve excellent results in their work. According to Mr. Anton Milto, Deputy General Director for Marketing and Sales, “At the Symposium great attention was paid to the problems and prospects of implementation of engineering IT in industry. Specialists from large engineering companies together with the representatives from AVEVA were able to discuss the development and application trends for the new technical solutions in the nearest future, as well as make some forecasts”.

For some years, SibCOTES has been successfully applying 3-D design software in its work. The Company has carried out several projects in Plant 4D, a software product. They include the projects for modular boiler houses in Yakutya. Design and engineering for steam boilers at Zheleznogorskaya CHP plant is prepared in Plant 4D under the Contract with Rosatomstroy and Raytheon, the USA. At present, alongside with Plant 4D, the Company applies PDMS 3-D design software. For the first time in Russia, SibCOTES will design two power units - 225 MW each - with CFB boilers for Cherepetskaya power plant using this program.

Mr. Anton Milto said that during this event SibCOTES had met some Russian companies, which actively apply 3-D design software in their work. They agreed to share their experience. It is planned that Novosibirsk specialists will go to Moscow and Volgograd to learn more about the application of PDMS this autumn.
