Ukraine Supplies 43% of its Sheared-Plate Quota to USA
OREANDA-NEWS. Between November 2006 and October 2007 Ukraine supplied 43% of its annual quota of carbon sheared-plates to the USA. The quota is valid between November 1 2006 and November 1, 2007, reported the Official website www.kmu.gov.ua.
Such a low performance is explained by indicative prices, which do not satisfy Ukrainian metal suppliers.
Three Ukrainian producers, whom these restrictions concern: AzovStal, the Mariupol Ilyich Works and the Alchevsk Metallurgical Works are getting ready to sign bipartite agreements with the US Department of Commerce on deleting quality limitations.
Earlier, Ukrainian Economic Minister Anatoliy Kinakh said Ukraine has reached an agreement with the USA on supply of 150,000 Ukrainian rolled metal to the USA in 2008. According to the minister, the parties decided to extend the agreement on suspending antidumping investigation regarding some types of metal articles for another year, through October 30, 2008.
In January - September 2007 Ukrainian metallurgic enterprises received licenses on supply of 61,740 tons of carbon sheared-plates, which was 43,44% of the annual quota.
According to the agreement between the countries the 2007 quota was increased from 138,106 tons to 142,111 tons.
