OREANDA-NEWS. On October 24, 2007 a Gazprom delegation has paid a visit to the Kamchatka Oblast, reported the press-centre of Gazprom.

The parties provided a complex of administrative and technical measures in the frames of the execution of the Russian Government tasks on the Gas Supply of the Kamchatka Oblast, Phase 1 – Gas Supply of the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsk project implementation by Gazprom due to 2010. Particularly, the Company’s specialists provided technical inspection of the gas pipeline facilities constructed and gas industry facilities, examined the project documentation, studied issues related to development of an integrated energy complex in Kamchatka.

Within the visit the Gazprom delegation met with Alexey Kuzmitsky, Governor of the Kamchatka Oblast. The meeting particularly underscored that Gazprom planned to invest necessary amount of financial resources stipulated in the Company’s Investment Program in 2008 and following years aimed at executing the said project, which has the social and economic importance for the region.

In September 2007 the Russian Federation Government approved the decision to involve Gazprom in execution of the Gas Supply of the Kamchatka Oblast, Phase 1– Gas Supply of the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsk project. The Russian Federation Government gave concrete tasks on relevant issues of the project.

The project stipulates prospecting of the number of small gas condensate fields on the western coast of Kamchatka Peninsula and construction of the Sobolevo-Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsk gas main as well as distribution networks in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsk.

The total length of the Sobolevo-Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsk gas main must be equal to 398 km, where only 96.6 km are constructed. The construction stopped in 2002. The project construction supervisor and coordinator is Kamchatgazprom, where the federal authorities acquire a controlling stake. The Russian Federation Government tasks stipulate Gazprom acquisition of Kamchatgazprom shares.
