OREANDA-NEWS. In January-September 2007, Commercial Port of Vladivostok handled 2,383 vessels. The company’s throughput totaled 3.300.6 million tonnes (+3%, year-on-year).

In the reported period, export totaled 1.257.6 million tonnes (mostly metal and pulp-and-paper products), import (mostly large-capacity containers, cars and specialized equipment) amounted to 1.250.1 million tonnes. Transshipment of coastal trade cargo totaled 792,900 tonnes including mainly large-capacity containers, oil cargo and bulk grain handled with application of new technology according to which a portal crane lifts a car filled with grain above a vessel's hold, the dockers open unloading hatches, and, in few seconds, all grain pours into the hold. This technology makes it possible to handle 2,600 tonnes per day. In January-September 2007, Commercial Port of Vladivostok handled 140,438 TEU (+32%, year-on-year).
