OREANDA-NEWS. The operation of the Vanino-Kholmsk ferry service in Tatar Strait in the north of the Sea of Japan has resumed after three days of a storm, which was brought on by a powerful cyclone. On Tuesday the cyclone left the strait, moving to the Sea of Okhotsk.
The Kholmsk-bound ferries Sakhalin-7 and Sakhalin-8 set out from Vanino on Tuesday morning. Each takes on board 26 railway cars laden with freight, and 100 passengers.
According to a report by a ferry service controller, four vessels serve the Vanino-Kholmsk shipping line. When the cyclone swept the area, the ferries took shelter in the bays of the ports of Vanino and Sovetskaya Gavan.
