OREANDA-NEWS. “Complex Actions Plan for 2006-2010 to improve ecological condition in Azerbaijan Republic” was ratified with the Decree of the President of Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev on September 28, 2006. There are significant works are being carried out to improve ecological condition, and to restore ecological balance in the country. SOCAR’s Ecology Department is also taking immediate complex actions to improve ecological condition in accordance with international standards and official rules. Also, the department is taking necessary measures to ensure ecological security in oil-gas refinery and production processes.

The steps taking forward have already positive outcomes. 8.16 ha and 11.75 ha in Bibiheybat area and 3.8 ha in the activity zones of “Balakhany” OGED (Oil and Gas Extraction Department) have already been cultivated. Currently, 244.21-ha area in Bibiheybat is being intensively cultivated, and new projects are set up considering the results of monitoring. In addition, SOCAR’s Oil and Gas Projects Institute has already prepared the construction project and construction budget of 3 ecological monitoring stationary test centers which will be constructed in Balakhany, Bibiheybat, Zigh. These measures are taken to improve technical control for the prevention of air pollution by the means of transportation, and to match the wastes with Euro-3 standards.
