OREANDA-NEWS. On October 20, 2007 the sub-commission for transport of the Ukraine - Russia economic cooperation committee has decided to create a working group for realization of a project of bridge construction over the Kerch Strait, the press service of the Crimean Council of Ministers said, reported the Official website www.kmu.gov.ua.

Crimean Prime Minister Viktor Plakida took part in the fourth session of the sub-commission, which was held in Moscow.

The working group is to draft a mechanism of the project realization and its feasibility study.

The construction of the passage bridge across the Kerch Strait on the section of the Kherson - Novorossiysk road reduces the travel way to passengers and cargo by 450 km, and "if logistically unite transport systems of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation countries" the way around the Black Sea can be reduced by 1,200 km.

The Kerch -Kuban transportation passage will secure the movement of 10 million persons yearly.
