OREANDA-NEWS. October 19, 2007. In the sports centre “Rodina” the finals of OJSC “Territorial Generating Company № 5” first Sports and athletics competition took place. About 200 sportsmen from four regions of the country took part in the contests.

The Sports and athletics competition is a traditional for energy systems of the Republic of Mari El, the Kirov region, the Republics of Chuvashia and Udmurtia annual sports contest. TGC-5 has for the first time decided to carry out this action under centralized direction, uniting power engineering specialists of all the four territories where the company’s branches are situated.

According to OJSC “TGC-5” Director General Eduard Smelov who opened the competition, “today the staff of a big enterprise have got a chance to meet outside production sectors. Excitement that is present at such competitions is the best source of energy they have to give away at work”.

The competitions were held in six kinds of sport (volley-ball, football, relay-race, table-tennis, swimming, basketball). During the breaks between the games contests for supporters and games for children were organized. For the city the Sports and athletics competition became a real sports festival.

As a result of the tense struggle the team of TGC-5 Kirov branch took the first prize. The second prize was given to Udmurt branch, the third prize – to Chuvashia branch, the fourth and the fifth prizes passed to the team of Mari branch and the company’s executive staff team.

At the end of the Sports and athletics competition the winners were given awards (cups, medals, diplomas and certificates for acquisition of sports equipment) and fireworks were let off.

The victorious teams will take part in the Sports and athletics competition of IES-Holding in November 2007.
